About us

Simon and Tracey Cooper re-opened The Gallery on the 29th September, 2009 much to the delight of coffee, food and art lovers from and around Chard.
Together, they have an extensive background in hospitality and spent most of their working lives in Jersey, Channel Islands working the busy tourist summer seasons. They are both avid travellers and spent many a winter abroad, usually in search of another summer.
In 2004, they made the decision to work for themselves and became publicans of a village free-house near Salisbury which they ran successfully for two and a half years. Chard offered the couple their next business opportunity with The Gallery which had been greatly missed by the town since its closure in December 2008.
Tracey hails from New Zealand and comes from a family of food lovers. She has an extensive background in catering and works closely with Chef Mike Dagger to source local produce and prepare a new menu each month.
The food is predominately classic and modern European with a distinct Pacific flavour.
Simon grew up in Tiverton, Devon. Having spent many years involved with Jersey Tourism as a water ski instructor and beach concession manager, he enjoys being back in England’s South West with Tracey as The Gallery’s ‘Mine Hosts’.
Whatever the occasion, The Gallery can offer the ideal venue with Simon and Tracey making sure you and your party are well looked after.
